By now you have seen both of my girls’ rooms. If you haven’t click HERE for Ruby Lou’s room and HERE for Miss Charlie’s room. I worked hard on both of their rooms and Mr. Beck- my 4 year old- has been watching. He wants a cool “Big Boy” room. I am sure to him this means a car shaped bed, bright primary colors, and super-hero life sized vinyl people plastered on the walls… I. just. can’t. do. it. I haven’t asked him what he wants for fear of an answer like this. I know though if I make it cool and “boy” anything he will be super excited. I just can’t do cheesy theme rooms, I’ll stick some super hero sheets under the a cute quilt or something. 😉
I’ve been saving up some cool stuff I have found on my thrifting adventures.
Mostly the idea for this room started with this horse painting. I found it in a bin outside of a salvage store in San Diego. It was falling apart from weather and the teal frame was in pieces. I LOVED IT! My husband was a little nervous, but for $8 I told him to just trust me. I took it to my favorite framer in SD -ABC Frames in Escondido- and he fixed it right up for me just in time for me to drive it back home to Utah.
I love seeing the wear on the paper, it looks so manly! This boy room is going to rock.
Here is a mood board I put together to help guide me along.
I’m hoping to:
- build a platform bed with casters
- paint the room grey with a larger darker grey horizontal stripe around the room
- paint some old antlers my grandfather gave me
- create a fort space for him to play
READY-SET-GO!
EEEeee!! This is going to be a lot of WORK! But, it’s going to be so cool when I am done. YAY!
