I have been wanting to try these out since I first saw them. They are GORGEOUS and seem to be quite the rage this fall…for good reason! They are stunning. And, honestly who doesn’t love succulents. Tell me one person!??! I dare ya!
These are so easy to do. I just made two in about an hour. I have a lot of succulents around my house, so I used clippings from those to create these.
I was talking to my new neighbor yesterday (who, lucky me, owns a nursery!! I can pick her brain about plants!). She asked what I was going to do with my pumpkins, so I explained about how I had seen these and wanted to try them out. She was so excited! She had just made a ton for the store of her nursery and gave me all the details.
I couldn’t believe how easy it is. I have seen a few tutorials floating around using tape and other extra things. All my neighbors process required was the plants, pumpkin, moss, and hot glue.
I know what you are thinking! Will the hot glue kill the succulents? The answer is no! They are such a hardy plant. After you are done with these centerpieces you can even clip them off and replant them.
So here was the process I used to make my pumpkin centerpieces.
- I picked out some Cinderella pumpkins that has a nice dip in the top middle. I did not clip my stem, I used it to help attach my succulents.
- I began to place some of the moss around my pumpkin with hot glue.
- Pulled out my succulents and got rid of the dirt. Then started to arrange it and glue it down with the hot glue.
I continued placing and gluing my succulents until I felt it looked nice and full.
I did use A LOT of hot glue, so be prepared to have extra glue sticks on hand. This was a really fun way to bring the outside in and decorate for fall. These would make a gorgeous centerpiece at Thanksgiving and BONUS! Wouldn’t block the view of the person across from you.
I put this one on my piano. So beautiful!

I love making these succulent pumpkins, they are so much fun and so easy!! You did a beautiful job here!! I did about 8 of them and gifted a couple of them. I didn’t used hot glue, instead used tacky glue and worked well too. I will try hot glue next time. I think it will save me time. I’m going to transfer them I to a christmas arrangement next. They are doing beautifully. I wish I could add a picture to show you. Good luck. Best wishes!
