I worked with The Crafter’s Box this month to share about using wood beads in home decor and crafting. Yesterday I busted out my box and made this lovely rustic garland using the beads, leather, and copper pieces. It was really simple project you can do in an afternoon.
You will need some tools before you can get started though!
You will need:
a thick needle, a rotary cutter and mat, a pipe cutter, leather hole punch, copper pipe, wood beads, thick thread, and scissors.
I cut my copper pieces about an inch long from 1/2 copper pipe. I then cut my leather strips to 1 inch thick and 10 inches long. Using the smallest setting on the leather punch I created holes about every inch or maybe a little less. I just eye balled it, it doesn’t need to be perfectly spaced.
You will thread your leather back and forth in the holes to make a ruffle like in this picture below.
You can get as creative as you want with the leather, size of the copper, and the pattern of your beads creating a beautiful rustic garland.
