What a BIG day!! We prepare our children for this day from the time they are teeny tiny! WHY?! Because, this is something very sacred and near to our hearts. I remember being baptized and confirmed a member of the LDS church when I was 11, after going through the missionary discussions and much personal prayer. It was a decision that changed the course of my life in SO many positive and beautiful ways. I went in and out of activity in the LDS church as I grew and explored my feelings on religion. But, one Sunday as a young adult, while I sitting alone during sacrament meeting…I knew this was the place I wanted to be for my religious growth. And! I knew I wanted to someday raise a family with the principles and values being taught there. I imagined filling that whole empty church pew with my children and their children….No longer would I sit alone in that pew, but I’d be a happy old wrinkly lady sitting next to my love and our children who would know the beautiful things I knew about the Savior and our loving Father in Heaven. This was my HOPE! It IS my HOPE!
In the LDS church, most children who have been raised in the church, are baptized at age 8. It is a very exciting time! We try to prepare them as best we can by teaching them the important gospel principles that we believe to be true. Baptism is a sacred and important first step in our faith. Something not to be taken lightly. I was so excited when Charlie, my oldest, wanted to be baptized.
Something fun, that is NOT required, but that has become tradition for girls in the LDS faith is having a white dress for the occasion. The white dress is symbolic of the covenant made that day- purity, the light of Christ, and being washed clean. It is also quickly become a tradition to take pictures in this dress to remember the occasion. Mormons love to document every special occasion.
I have compiled a list of places to find these darling dresses, because sometimes a cute modest all white dress can be tricky to find! I hope this helps on your search!
Charlie and her cousin, who are two weeks apart in age, were baptized on the same day. This added to the wonderfulness of the day! We found Charlie and Jaiden’s dresses at David’s Bridal. They did not have sleeves, so we also added these fur jackets from H&M. Their silver headbands were from Claire’s.
The girls had a blast trying on dresses at David’s Bridal, they were great with our girls. They no longer carry Charlie’s dress, but you can find a similar one on Amazon.
You can look for more dresses like these under their Communion Dresses section or Flower Dresses section. The bow on Charlie’s dress was sold separately and you can also find those at David’s Bridal.
Occasionally Costco in Utah will also have white dresses around Easter time. But, that’s not helpful if you don’t live in Utah! There are also lots of dress stores in Utah that have some cute dresses for baptism. Sometimes the selection is not very large, but there are some cute dresses to look through.
Here are a few of those stores. If you are not in Utah, you could order online, but most do not allow you to return the dresses.
White Elegance – One of my favorites from here is the Lace Frosting and Pixie Dust dresses.
Free Verce – They carry modern and simple style dresses. Pictures below in post.
OR if you need to try on and possibly return- Amazon has a great selection of beautiful dresses. Here are a few of my favorites.

Hi I really love these dresses! I am wondering if you happen to have any information on the first Amazon.com dress that you posted (the one with the presents and flowers in the picture). I really love it but the link isn’t working anymore. Thanks!
