Everyone needs to paint furniture at some point in their life… just for the heck of it! I think it’s fun to transform furniture and give it new life. IT FEELS GOOD! I had forgotten how good it feels since I haven’t painted furniture in a while. A long while…
I was on the hunt for a new night stand. My old one was too narrow and driving me a little bonkers. Things kept falling off, their wasn’t enough room inside…WAIT! Maybe I just have too much junk!??! haha! Naaahhh… LOL! (I do though, I have too much junk)
So I found this solid hunk of wood on KSL- a local online classifies adds. It was pretty beat up when I found it.
She needed some love.
I sanded the top lip down to the natural raw wood. If I had the patience I would have sanded the whole dang thing down to raw wood…but I don’t! Ha! I know my limits… (sometimes)
This was a labor of love since I am currently feeling huge and very prego. I am excited how it turned out though!
It took three coats of Annie Sloan chalk paint- Paris Grey. It looks really beautiful.
I distressed it slightly and I did not put a wax or top coat of any kind on it. I like the flat look of the paint.
Pretty quick and easy! Chalk paint is the best. I am going to be sharing about another brand I have recently tried out. It will be up on the blog next week! Annie Sloan is nice paint, but sometimes it is hard to find and it is pricey. There are two other brands I have tried that I love. One you can find in this post HERE. The other I will be sharing along with my headboard makeover. Try all the brands! If you are painting lots of pieces I highly suggest trying a few different ones out and seeing what YOU like best.
