Here is an introduction of Carli and what she has to say about Christmas in her home:
Hello new friends!
Some of you may know me and some of you may not, so let me quickly introduce myself. My name is Carli Lewis and you can find me over at Simply Saturday on Instagram. I have been married for almost 12 years and I have 3 daughters that pretty much look exactly like me. Except I think my middle one looks more like Dad. At times it is hard for me to pin point exactly what my Instagram is all about, because let’s be honest, like really honest. I like to do a lot of different things and I have done a lot of different things. However my goal is to uplift and hopefully inspire my friends and followers in one way or another. Plus let’s not forget I love meeting new people and becoming friends.
Now let’s get to the fun part. Christmas! I feel like I have been ready for Christmas since October, but don’t worry, my tree didn’t go up until after Halloween. There is just no way I can get myself to put it up any earlier. In fact this was the first year I put it up as early as I did and you know what? I LOVED that it was up before Thanksgiving. I think it honestly gets you ready for the holiday season. My favorite part about decorating for Christmas are the smells and the memories. My house is filled will so much color and happiness all around. How can you be grumpy when you have glitter and sparkle everywhere?
Ok, let’s put this out there. I am not an interior designer, in fact, I struggle big time with design at times. However my secret to getting past that not so natural talent, is to find a piece that you love and go from there. My style has changed a lot over the years. Some stick with the current trends and others just do their own thing. I am somewhere in the middle. This year I went somewhat trendy, but still kept it my style. I got a flocked tree (while this isn’t a new concept to most, it was new to my style). I wasn’t ready until this year for one because I always felt that flocked trees were bold, but hello! If you know me in person, you know I am kind of bold and let’s just say it, I kind of talk a lot and have opinions. So I guess this tree was meant to be. Another element to the style I choose this year was pink. Now before you gasp, you need to know I have three daughters and no sons. A house full of girls (besides Dad) calls for some pink, but don’t worry. I didn’t Pepto-Bismol pink or anything. I kept it classy.
When I decorate, I like to keep things simple, affordable, and of course I like it to represent me. When deciding how to decorate, my best advice is to find a few pieces that stand out to you and that you love. Once you find those pieces, decorate around those. I also like to grab extra items because while they might not make sense by themselves, once you put them together with other pieces it all comes together, but I sometimes can’t see it until they are placed together. Another tip is to use what you already have and then buy a few things to help fill in those missing areas. That way it can help keep your cost down if money doesn’t grow on trees for you and if it does grow on trees, I am pretty sure we are friends at this point to where you should let me in on the secret of where to find one of those trees.
I hope your Christmas is wonderful and filled with so many memories!
