Here is an introduction of Susan and she has to say about Christmas in her home:
My Instagram name explains our family pretty well – me, my husband, and my 3 boys. I fought many years to have that 3rd kid. My husband always joked a table for 4 is so much easier when going places. When we had the last kid I proudly asked for our table for 5 where ever we went as he rolled his eyes. I started my Instagram account almost 3 years ago when one of my friends kept tagging me to share decor pics. I knew some big changes were coming to our home so I thought it’d be fun to document them and my love for decorating. I’ve always loved creating whether it be decorating my home, party planning, crafting, or DIYing. I was once a teacher and when I started staying home my house became my canvas.
Christmas has always been my favorite holiday to decorate for. Maybe because I was almost born on Christmas? As much as I love some neutral, when it comes to Christmas decor I love COLOR. I’ve always had to have the traditional red. Sometimes I do some rooms neutral and some with color so I can have both! I like to add in some nontraditional too and the past few years I’ve really loved mixing black in. It tones down the bright red and fits right in with Santa’s suit!
One of the first things I always put together for the holidays is a styled tiered tray. Something about packing so many goodies on one little tray that makes my heart happy.
Planning and decorating a table comes in a close second. I spend weeks planning it out and brainstorming the perfect pieces to make it something we will all love. This year I went away from bright colors and stuck with neutral.
I try and get creative and think outside the box with things I have and this year I decided to wrap mirrors in our dining room like presents to save some money! I also try and use cheap things (love the Target $1 spot) to create tablescapes that won’t break the bank. The little houses on my place setting this year were purchased from the Target $1 spot for $3 a piece. They make a statement without being crazy expensive.
Another cost saving thing I try to do is DIY a fun Christmas project. Last years advent calendar on my mugrack was one of my favs! I’ve got another countdown calendar I’m working on as we speak so check back in soon!
