Never give up on your DIY DREAMS! Haha! This project took me over two years to actually complete. GAH!! WHY?!! The same reason everything takes long…. one of these reasons: Scared to start. Too many other projects on your plate. Not enough time. The list could go on… I am sure!
So, here is what I did in my son’s room. I built three frames out of 2×4’s. I built my frame by using a back piece that would go against the wall and three arms screwed in to that main board. Those boards stick out the depth you want your shelf to be.
I found my studs using my trusty stud finder and screwed my 2×4 frames into the wall. THEN I WAITED A YEAR, then I wrapped the frames with reclaimed fence wood.
When I use old fence wood in my house I always prep it my sanding it with 120 grit sandpaper on my electric sander, brush it with a steel brush, then blow it off with my air compressor.
To attach my reclaimed boards the 2×4’s I used my air compressor with my finish nail gun and 1.5 inch nails.
Since Beck’s desk is made out of reclaimed wood and would be bumpy to write; on I bought a clear plastic desk cover to go on the top. I found it on Amazon HERE. I also bought his chair on Amazon and I love it. You can find that HERE
Her are some more pictures of his room. It’s FINALLY FINISHED!!!

I love it! Is the dresser a thrifted find
or is it available for retail purchase? Moving into a 100 year old home and my son is SO excited for his room transformation and finding ideas together! Thanks!
